NOTE: This Itinerary is meant only as a guideline and is subject to change to suit the local conditions. Walking hours are   based on an average walking pace and may change as per individual pace.


day 1


Arrival to Kathmandu-pick up and transfer to hotel. Free to explore the day. Overnight stay in Kathmandu hotel.



9am to 5pm

Kathmandu valley sightseeing - Pashupatinath temple, Baudhanath. After lunch, we will visit Sywabhunath and Durbar square. After visiting Durbar square, we walk back to the hotel via old Asan Baazar. Overnight in Kathmandu hotel.  



9am to 5pm

We will visit Patan Durbar square in the morning. After lunch we will drive to Bhaktapur (UNESCO heritage site and one of the most beautiful and old Newari city, Newars are one of the ethnic groups in Nepal). Over night at Bhaktapur hotel. Trek briefing in Bhaktapur.




After breakfast we will transfer to Kathmandu airport for Nepalgunj. In the afternoon, we will visit a temple and explore the city. 



Trek begins:

Nepalgunj-Jumla–Urthu: Early morning 30 min flight to Jumla. We will explore the district headquarter and then start our trek to Urthu. The trail follows the Tila River. On our hike to Padmara we will be passing through fields, pine forest, spruce, and firs. Cultural and educational exchange program 1. 


(2- 3 hours)



Urthu - Padmara – Khali (2400m): The trail ascends up the Grushni river valley and will be arriving Padmara. We will have lunch at Padmara and continue our trek to Khali Lagna. We will follow the forest trail and go over 3,642m pass and arrive Khali Lagna. 

(6-7 hours)



Khali – Naurey Ghat (3000m): The trail follows thru the forest all the way to Naurey Ghat. We will have lunch at Naurey Ghat and in the evening we will have our second cultural and educational exchange program 2.   

(4 hours)



Naurey Ghat – Chautha (2770m): We will walk by the river for 1.5 hour. Then we will climb uphill for 1.5 hours until we reach the top of a village. We will have pack lunch for the day. After lunch, we have an hour gentle walk through the village and then 45 minutes downhill to Chautha.


(5 hours) 



Chautha – Bulbule (3000m): The trail ascends all the way through the forest until we reach Bulbule. In Bulbule we will have to purchase the Rara Conservation entry permit. Today, we will rest, wash clothes, and or just relax in the afternoon.

DAY 10


Bulbule – Pina (2200m): We will continue to walk uphill until we reach Ghucchi pass (3446m) where we will see good mountain views of Chankeli and Patrachi. From here we can also see Tibet border. After the pass, we will follow a steep descend to Pina village. Pina is the largest village along this trekking route and is very scenic.  Here we will have our last cultural and educational exchange program.

DAY 11


Pina – Rara (3600m): We start with a gradual walk for thirty minutes through the terraces followed by uphill. Then we walk thru through the fields and then climb for 30 minutes until we reach Jhyari. EWN has a small project in Jhyare and is in the process of re-building a community hall for the locals to hold meetings and carry other activities. From Jhyari, we will continue our hike until we reach Rara after 3-4 hrs.

DAY 12


Rara Lake – Talchha (2700m): We will have the morning free to enjoy Rara Lake. After lunch we will walk by the lake and descend to Talchha. In Talchha we will stay at the airport hotel.

DAY 13


Early flight to Nepalgunj & drive to Lumbini (6 hrs drive in a luxury bus).

DAY 14


Sightseeing in Lumbini (birthplace of Lord Buddha). 

DAY 15


Lumbini to Pokhara (10 hrs bus to Pokhara via scenic Palpa highway. We will stop in Butwal for Lunch).

DAY 16


Rest day in the morning. After lunch we will go and visit Barahi Temple by boat. Dinner at Chhetri Sisters Guest house.

DAY 17


Sunrise at Sarankot (1600m)

Breakfast at the guest house. Today, we will visit Gupteswar temple and cave, International mountain museum and lunch at Thakali (another ethnic group in Nepal) restaurant in town. After lunch we will visit Hemja Tibetan Camp and Buddhist monastery. In the evening, there will be a Buddhist prayer service and we will have the chance to participate and experience Buddhist Culture. On the way back to the hotel we will stop for dinner at the Newari restaurant.

DAY 18


Breakfast and transfer to KTM (30 minute flight).

DAY 19


Departure to destination.
