Cordon del Plata




Cordon del Plata (“Cord of Silver”) is a mountain range with peaks as high as 3,000 to 5,000 meters and it is the most spectacular section of the foothills of the Andes that can be seen from the city of Mendoza. Among the most well-known summits are Santa Elena, Franke, Lomas Amarillas, Lomas Blancas, San Bernardo, Rincón, Estephanek and, the tallest, Pico Plata and Cerro Vallecitos.

It is a natural protected area. The trail leaves from the Vallecites ski center, where are located many mountain refuges, specially adapted for mountaineering activities of all difficulties such as high mountain expeditions, hiking and trekking.

Mountain duck organizes expeditions of all degrees of dificulty in the summer and winter in Vallecitos, which is one of the principal acclimatization points before the hike to Aconcagua Mountain.
